The protagonist in "The Interlopers" is Ulrich von Gradwitz. The initial antagonist in the story is the only other character, Georg Znaeym. The two characters decide to end their feud and become friends just before the story ends.
"The Interlopers" was written by Hector Hugh Munro, who wrote it under his pen name, Saki. The story describes what befalls Ulrich and Georg when they encounter each other on a section of "a forest of mixed growth somewhere on the eastern spurs of the Carpathians," the ownership of which has been the source of dispute between the two men's families for generations.
