"How Proust Can Change Your Life" is the title of a book by Alain de Botton, published in 1998 by Vintage Books. In this work, the author argues that Marcel Proust's seminal work, "A la Recherche du Temps Perdu," can be viewed as a kind of self-help book.
Proust's novel, whose title has been translated as "In Search of Lost Time" or "Remembrance of Things Past," is, in de Botton's view, a subtle manual for self-improvement. "How Proust Can Change Your Life" spends nine chapters examining various topics of friendship, love and the manner of living life more fully, interspersed with quotes from Proust's seven-volume masterpiece.
