What is the purpose of a crimp terminal?
By Forinfos - 16/04/2026 - 0 comments
The purpose of a crimp terminal is to serve as an electrical connection while terminating stranded wire. It provides a solder-free method to terminate wires to various combinations of screw terminals, fast-on type terminals and wire splices.
Crimp terminals vary by type, size, shape, style and wire gauge to cater to different wires and requirements. Choose the correct size terminal, and strip the end of the wire to be crimped, exposing wire equivalent to the length of the connector's barrel. Insert the stripped end of the wire into part of the crimp terminal, and use a crimping tool to compress the terminal around the wire to render it gas-tight.
