What is the purpose of the fuel pump control module?

The fuel pump control module is a relay that releases power to operate the fuel pump. The fuel pump control module is part of the constant control relay module, or CCRM.

When the vehicle's key is turned to the run position, power is sent to the powertrain control module and on to the fuel pump control module, or fuel pump relay, which in turn sends power to the fuel pump. If the key does not turn the rest of the way forward and enter the start position after about one full second, the powertrain control module de-energizes the fuel pump control module, which then de-energizes the fuel pump.
