What are quartz countertops?

Quartz countertops are artificial stone countertops that are made of 90 percent ground quartz and about 10 percent polymers, resins and pigments. Quartz countertops are also known as engineered stone countertops.

Quartz countertops are very hard, and their surfaces look like granite. The texture of quartz countertops depends on how the quartz is ground. For instance, a flecked appearance implies roughly ground quartz, and smooth quartz countertops indicate finely ground quartz.

The advantages of quartz countertops include durability and resistance to cracks and stain. They are also waterproof and easily cleaned. They are, however, costly and need professional installation because of their heaviness.
