Captive rabbits eat on a schedule by their owners, and their diet usually consists of commercially prepared rabbit pellets, store bought hay, fresh vegetables and occasional fruit treats. Rabbits also need to have a lot of fresh water available.
Rabbits enjoy leafy green vegetables, such as kale and lettuce, and also root vegetables, such as carrots and parsnips. To aid in digestion, timothy hay, Bermuda grass or oat hay should be a regular part of a rabbit's diet.
