When is the rainy season in Brazil?

The rainy season in Brazil varies by location, according to Southern Explorations. Brazil is a large country, and its climate and geography vary widely from one place to the next. In most places, the rainy season and the highest amount of rainfall coincide with the Southern Hemisphere's summer.

In Rio de Janeiro, the amount of rainfall stays relatively consistent year round. In the heart of the Amazon Basin, the city of Manaus receives most of its rain between November or December and March or April. The city of Pantanal experiences a similar pattern, with a December to March rainy season. Salvador exhibits the reverse pattern, with most of the rain falling in May, June and July.
