What do RAM and ROM stand for?
By Forinfos - 08/09/2025 - 0 comments
The terms RAM and ROM are acronyms for "random access memory" and "read-only memory." They are two types of memory with distinctive roles in a computer.
The main difference between RAM and ROM is that ROM is a read-only form of memory that cannot be modified. ROM is classified as a nonvolatile memory, whereas RAM is a volatile memory. RAM memory can also be found in other electronic devices apart from computers, including tablets, smartphones and printers. As RAM is a volatile form of memory, it requires electric power to keep the data. ROM holds on to the data with or without power.
