What are some reasons a car horn might not work?

Car horns commonly fail because of a blown fuse, or a faulty connector in the horn mechanism or horn button. A problem in the wiring loom or in the horn mechanism may also cause a fault.

You can check the fuse by removing it and testing for continuity with a multimeter or by replacing it with a new fuse. If the fuse is faulty, test the horn mechanism by connecting it directly to the 12v car battery. If the horn works when connected directly to the battery, check that the terminal connections are not dirty or rusty and clean them if necessary. Check the loom connection to the steering wheel or instrument cluster, and test the horn button with a continuity tester.
