State offices in Tennessee generally close for holidays or due to inclement weather. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the state offices close on the Friday before that day. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the state offices close on the Monday following that day.

State offices close for New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day and Good Friday. They also close for Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day. Additional closings include Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Inclement weather sometimes forces the unscheduled closing of state offices.
