What is the recovery for a posterior hip dislocation?

By Forinfos - 05/05/2025 - 0 comments

Most patients recover from hip dislocation within two to three months, according to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Recovery most often involves a reduction procedure and physical therapy though some patients require additional treatment such as surgery.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons states that the procedure for placing the bone back in its original position is called a reduction. This procedure is usually performed under anesthetic. Doctors recommend limiting movement of the leg and hip joint to allow time for the joint to heal. Many patients require mobility aids, such as crutches or walkers, to assist with walking during the early stages of recovery.
