After cataract surgery, most patients are able to resume normal activities within three to four days. Full recovery takes about eight weeks, depending on the age and health of the individual, according to WebMD.
Cataracts is a clouding of the eye that usually happens with age. Surgery typically only takes about an hour to perform and is one of the most common surgeries in the United States, reports WebMD. After the surgery, vision is often a little blurry for the first 24 hours, and some mild irritation or itching may be present. Doctors often prescribe eye drops to prevent infection or some kind of eyewear to protect the eye in its sensitive state.
