What is the red mage in FFXI?

The Red Mage is a character class in "Final Fantasy XI" that can utilize both white and black magic. The Red Mage can also use melee weapons, such as swords or daggers.

The Red Mage is unmatched in versatility. The Red Mage can do healing and support with white magic, elemental offense with dark magic and decent physical attack/defense for a spell-casting class. This jack-of-all-trades play style is not as effective in the various fields as the singular classes. A Black Mage or a White Mage is always more effective with their respective spells and has access to higher-tier spells later. The Red Mage does have its two unique spells and can sufficiently fill various roles in an online party.
