What is a refrigerator door switch?

A refrigerator door switch refers to a push-button that controls the on-off orientation of the refrigerator light. At its proper functioning, the switch turns the refrigerator light on and off when released and depressed respectively.
Most refrigerators have their door switch on the bottom half of the unit, usually toward the right. Over time, this switch may stop working due to accumulation of dirt and grime. To fix this problem, the switch should be wiped with a dry rag to remove all dirt, debris and sticky liquid. If the switch fails to work after cleaning, it should be removed and replaced with a new one.
