As of 2015, over 25 states accept online registration to vote, including Minnesota, Arizona, Oregon, Hawaii and Missouri. The government advises people to seek help from the state election office to inquire about online voter registrations.
Arizona was the first to implement online registration in 2002. A report filed in Arizona on online voter registration indicated that the cost to register a person reduced from 83 cents to 3 cents. Utah, Colorado, Indiana and Oregon followed in 2010. The cost of setting up online voter registration systems ranged between $250,000 to $750,000. As of 2015, there are no reports of fraud or security breaches in the systems.
