How do you remove pen marks from leather?

To remove pen marks from leather, put rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and gently rub it over the stain. Once the ink is removed, clean the area with a damp cloth and recondition the leather. As a last resort, a commercial leather cleaner can be used.
- Use alcohol
Add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to a clean, white cotton ball. Gently rub the cotton ball over the stained area; do not scrub as this could damage the leather surface. Use fresh alcohol and new cotton balls to remove the stain without spreading the ink. Never use a colored cloth for removing ink, as the dye from the cloth could transfer and stain the leather.
- Clean the surface
Once the ink has been completely removed, clean the treated area with a soft, clean, white cloth. Remove all the alcohol and allow the leather to dry completely before adding leather conditioner.
- Condition the leather
Use a leather conditioner to restore the finish to the surface of the leather. It may take a few applications on the cleaned area to restore the original color of the leather. Allow the conditioner to dry between coats.
- Try commercial leather cleaner
If rubbing alcohol does not remove the ink stain, a commercial leather cleaner can be used. Commercial leather cleaners can be bought at shoe stores and hardware stores.
