To remove motor oil from a cloth, scrape off the oil with a plastic spoon, and blot the residue with a paper towel. Sprinkle baby powder over the stain, and leave it for a few minutes before rubbing it with oil-fighting dish washing liquid. Finally, wash your cloth as normal.
- Scrape off the oil
Lay the cloth on a flat surface, and use a plastic spoon to scrape off as much oil as possible. Take caution not to scrub the fabric.
- Blot the oil
Using a paper towel, blot the oil from the fabric using lifting motions so the oil doesn't sink further into the fabric. Blot until no more oil comes off on the paper towel. Change the towel every time it gets sufficiently stained.
- Apply the baby powder
Sprinkle baby powder over the stain. Let the powder absorb the oil for 10 minutes. Use a paper towel to remove the powder.
- Apply dish washing liquid
Drop dish washing liquid on the stain, and add a drop of water. Use your fingers to work the liquid into the fabric, and rub the stain with a toothbrush in a circular motion on both sides of the fabric.
- Wash your cloth
Wash the cloth with water and laundry detergent according to the manufacturer's instructions. Finally, air dry your cloth.
