Remove paint drips on a wall by lightly scraping off the raised portion of the drip with a scraper, gently sanding the area in the direction of the drip and applying an additional topcoat of paint. Work carefully to remove the drip without damaging the rest of the paint job.
- Scrape the paint drip with a wall scraper
As soon as you notice the drip, remove the raised portion of the paint drip by scraping it in the direction of the drip with a small, smooth wall scraper or a razor blade. Keep the scraped area as small as possible to simplify the repair. This works best when the paint is still damp or tacky.
- Sand the area of the drip with fine-grit sandpaper after it is dry
Check to make sure the paint is completely dry. Sand the drip area with 220-grit sandpaper to smooth the surface and blend the scraped area with the rest of the wall. Sand only in the direction of the drip to avoid damaging the rest of the paint.
- Apply an additional topcoat of paint
Paint the wall with an additional top coat. Sometimes a third top coat is necessary to completely blend the dripped area with the rest of the wall.
