How do you renew your CNA license through Prometric?

Nurse aides cannot renew their CNA licenses through Prometric. However, the Prometric website has several features that can help in the renewal process. These features include downloadable CNA renewal and recertification forms in .pdf file format, sample renewal application letters, links to nurse aid registries in some states, employment verification forms and even renewal approval request forms for potential employers.

CNA stands for certified nursing assistant. These professionals assist patients or clients who have compromised mobility in performing their daily tasks, such as walking or moving around, eating, bathing and changing clothes. As of 2014, tests for CNA licensing can be taken via the Prometric website for 12 states, including Florida, New York, New Mexico and Arkansas.

The following describes how to use the features on the Prometric website to help with CNA license renewal.

1. Go to the website

Go to the Prometric page in a Web browser.

2. Navigate to the nurse aid registry services page

The easiest way to do this is by typing "registry services" in the search field located in the upper right-hand portion of the page. Click on "Nurse Aid Registry Services" on the results.

3. Use any of the features

On the registry services page, click on the link for the relevant state to access its features.
