To replace wiper linkage, remove the wiper arms, open the vehicle hood, expose the wiper linkage, remove the wiring harness, unbolt the old wiper linkage, attach the new linkage, replace the wiring harness, plastic trim and rubber moulding, close the hood and reattach the wiper arms. This 45-minute procedure requires safety gloves, a wrench, a screwdriver and new wiper linkage.
- Remove the wiper arms
Lift up the wiper arms, remove the plastic bolt caps, unbolt the arms, and lift them off of the vehicle. Set the arms and bolts aside, and keep the right arm separate from the left.
- Expose the wiper linkage
Open the vehicle hood, and visually locate the rubber moulding and plastic panels at the top of the engine compartment. Peel away the rubber, and unclip the plastic panels. If the panels are screwed in place, remove the screws. Set the moulding and panels aside.
- Disconnect the wiring harness
Unplug the wiring harness, unbolt it, and lift it out to expose the wiper linkage.
- Replace the wiper linkage
Unbolt the old wiper linkage, remove it, set the new linkage in its place and bolt it down. Replace and reconnect the wiring harness.
- Replace the plastic panels and rubber moulding
Set the plastic panels over the wiring harness, and replace the clips or screws. Replace the rubber moulding, and close the vehicle hood.
- Reconnect the wiper arms
Set the wiper arms in the sockets, tighten the bolts, and replace the plastic bolt caps.
