What is a reptile heating pad?
By Forinfos - 07/04/2026 - 0 comments
A reptile heating pad is an electrical accessory encased in rubber that warms the bottom of a terrarium with a consistent heat that keeps snakes, tortoises and land lizards comfortable. Heat is essential for a reptile's circulatory system, which keeps it healthy and active.
Unlike heating lamps that emit light in addition to heat, heating pads do not disrupt a reptile's natural sleeping cycle. The intent of an under-tank heating pad is not to heat the reptile but to mimic its natural environment by maintaining an overall terrarium temperature that is 10 to 15 degrees warmer than the room. This type of heater is inexpensive to operate.
