As of 2015, some free resources for learning Brazilian Portuguese include the word of the day from Transparent Language and iTunes. Both of these resources are available online.

The word of the day from Transparent Language offers a different word each day with the chance to listen to the pronunciation of the word and the pronunciation of a sentence that includes the word. This includes the English definition of the word, the type of speech and a sentence in English that includes the word.

On iTunes, students can download free lessons for Brazilian Portuguese. There is a new lesson with a different them available each week.
