Derrick Walker enrolled at the University of Michigan in 1985, where he played linebacker and tight end for the Wolverines. He was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the sixth round of the 1990 NFL Draft, and he played on the team until 1993. Walker was traded to the Chiefs in 1994 and stayed with them for three years, before playing his final season with the Oakland Raiders in 1999.
