The Tiber River is the river that runs through Rome. The Tiber River is the second longest river in Italy, after the Po River, and runs through Rome into the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The Tiber River is 252 miles long. It varies in depth between 7 and 20 feet, and twists in a southerly direction. When the river was discovered, it was originally called the Albula River. However, as time went on, it was renamed Tiberis after King Tiberinus, who drowned in it.
The river was once used to transport wine, oil and wheat and today, the Tiber River is one of the scenic attractions of Rome.
