Where is Robert Thompson now?

As of 2014, the whereabouts of Robert Thompson are not known to the public. After his release from a detention center in 2001, Thompson was given a new identity and sent to a secret location.

Thompson and co-conspirator Jon Venables were convicted in the abduction, torture and murder of two-year-old James Bulger in February 1993. Just 10 years old at the time of the killing, they remain the youngest convicted killers in modern English history. Sentenced to remain in custody until at least adulthood, Thompson was released in June 2001, when he was deemed no longer a public threat by the parole board.
