Is Robin van Persie a Muslim?

While Dutch football star Robin van Persie has not publicly stated his religion, he has specifically denied being a Muslim. The question about whether or not van Persie is Muslim arose because of his marriage to a Muslim woman.

Although Robin van Persie has publicly called Islam a beautiful religion, he denies belonging to any organized religion and states that he would not convert to Islam just because he married a member of that religion. In fact, only 39 percent of residents of the Netherlands, a primarily secular country and van Persie's birthplace, choose to affiliate themselves with a religion at all
