A romance scammer is a person or group of people who use the hope of love to get money from a victim. They make the victim want to help them get out of an unfortunate situation.

Romance scammers usually begin talking to a person on the Internet. They will try to make the person believe they are in love with them. Once they feel they have the person hooked, the scammer begins asking for money. Usually the scammer will say they are in an African country. If a scammer begins asking for money, call the authorities and let them get involved.
