As of 2014, there have been two American presidents named Roosevelt. Theodore Roosevelt, commonly called Teddy, was the 26th president and was succeeded by William Howard Taft. Franklin D. Roosevelt, commonly known as FDR, was the 32nd president and was succeeded by Harry S. Truman.
As president, Theodore Roosevelt was known for being a "trust buster" and getting the United States more involved in world affairs. He was heavily involved in the building of the Panama Canal. Franklin D. Roosevelt held the longest tenure of any president and is credited with getting the country out of the Great Depression. He was also the president when the United States entered World War II.
