The Rose Parade, also known as the Tournament of Roses, is traditionally held on New Year's Day. This century-old festival occurs in Pasadena, California, and is filled with flowers, music and sports.
Preparation for the Rose Parade takes around 80,000 hours. Members of the non-profit Tournament of Roses Association help prepare for the event. Several U.S. networks provide a live broadcast of the parade annually.
Each year, a different grand marshal leads the parade. In 2015, the grand marshal was Louis Zamperini, a former Olympian and World War II prisoner of war.
The parade features flower-covered floats, equestrian units and marching bands.
