What is rubberwood furniture?

Rubberwood furniture is created from the hardwood that comes from the rubber tree, which is typically grown as a source of natural rubber. This type of wood is widely used in imported furniture sold in the United States.

Rubberwood is fairly light-colored and a bit coarse. It is hard and of similar density to maple and ash woods. Rubberwood is frequently formed into panels and used to create tabletops and chair seats. The wood is treated to increase its durability for use outdoors.

China uses rubberwood to produce furniture and other items for export. Thailand and Malaysia also export rubberwood logs and boards.
