Since hazel eyes contain a range of colors, many options are available. Elle suggests trying lavender, violet or plum to enhance the green streaks in hazel eyes. Since hazel eyes are in between brown and green, complimentary colors of either one work well for hazel eyes.

Makeup artist, Matthew VanLeeuwen, suggests using brown as the base shadow and gold shadow on the center. Marina Gravani, a makeup artist as well, recommends avoiding golds that are too pale because "they tend to wash out the eye color." Other color options include gray, dusty-pink, burgundy, deep purple and yellow-brown, but avoid burgundy or rust as they can underscore the brilliance of hazel eyes.
