Is it safe to use donkey manure in a vegetable garden?

Donkey manure is quite safe to use in a vegetable garden. The manure should be allowed to age or cure for several weeks before it is used, or else the gardener risks burning the vegetable plants.
The chemical composition, nutrients and texture of donkey manure is very similar to that of horses. Because donkeys are vegetarians, their manure does not have a strong, unpleasant odor. It can also be placed in water and strained to create a manure tea.
Most retail establishments do not carry this product. Those who live in an agricultural area may have a good source of donkey manure nearby. A local county extension service may be able to suggest possible sources of donkey manure.
