A talent scout for the NBA earns between $28,340 and $450,000 per year as of October 2014, according to Future All Stars. Scouts should have at least a bachelor's degree and some experience in human resources, sports management and communications.

Talent scouts work to find new talent for the NBA teams they work for. They look at existing NBA players, college players, D-League players and even high school players. When looking at NBA players, the scout's goal is to bring the player to the team via a trade or during the free agency period. A scout may also keep an eye on opposing teams to try to figure out their strategies.
