Why do saltwater pools need chlorine?

By Forinfos - 06/07/2025 - 0 comments

Salt water pools require chlorine to keep the water clean. The salt in the pool creates a mild saline solution, which the chlorine generator uses to create a chlorine gas that is dissolved into the water. The chlorine turns back into salt and the cycle begins again.

Salt water pools do not require a lot of chemicals and need little in the way of maintenance. Regular vacuuming and skimming are required. The chlorine created by the chlorine generator is not as harsh as the chlorine chemicals in a traditional pool. Salt water pools do not grow algae as rapidly because of the low stabilizer levels.
