Savannah cats are a hybrid breed that is a mix of a domestic cat and the African Serval, which is a wild cat. This cat breed was created in the 1980s.

This large breed weighs around 20 pounds, but it's lanky instead of bulky and has long legs and a long neck. Savannah cats are friendly toward other pets and their owners, making them good companion animals for families. Their coats are visually similar to their wild heritage, with a light base and dark, bold markings. Worldwide, more than 60 breeders produce these cats, and the breed is accepted by two cat breed registries.
