The scientific name of the tarsier is "Tarsius." Tarsiers are mammals that can be found in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. As of 2011, there are 18 various tarsier subspecies.

Tarsiers are often described as the world’s smallest monkey because they share physical similarities with this animal. Tarsiers are nocturnal arboreal animals that are known for their distinctive big round eyes, and with their long hind legs, they can leap up to 5 meters between tree branches. Tarsiers have been around for 45 million years, making them one of the oldest land species in the Philippines, and they are found on both sides of the Wallace line.
