The Shazam app is free on the Google Play Store, iTunes App Store, Mac App Store, Windows Store and Windows Phone Store. Shazam is an app that identifies music and television shows using audio recognition.

Shazam launched in 2002 and was originally a text-based service. To use the service, a user dialed a number and held a device up to an audio source playing a song, and Shazam texted the user back with the artist and song title. As of 2015, Shazam recognizes billions of audio segments called tags. Information relayed to a user about a song or television show includes lyrics, artist and cast biographies, release and concert dates and ticket details.
