What is a shorkie?

A Shorkie is a designer dog that is a crossbreed of the Yorkshire Terrier and the Shih Tzu. Shorkies are typically small dogs that are six to 14 inches tall and weigh seven to 15 pounds.

Shorkies are prone to developing health issues prevalent in their parent breeds, such as hip dysplasia, liver disease and oral health issues and have a lifespan of 12 to 15 years. Shorkies have a long and silky coat, and daily brushing is recommended to prevent tangling or matting. This breed typically has a affectionate temperament, and is considered a very loyal breed that craves human companionship.
