Ansel Adams was a talented photographer known for his images of the American West. One of the locations that he focused on was Yosemite National Park. Adams used his work to raise awareness for the conservation of the wilderness.

Ansel Adams was born in 1902 in the city of San Francisco, Calif. After taking a trip in 1916 to Yosemite National Park, he developed a passion for photography, particularly of wilderness areas. Adams later achieved artistic and commercial success for his iconic black-and-white photographs of nature. After the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II, Ansel photographed the camps for a photo essay covering wartime injustice.
