When should I get a fuel-system cleaning?

A vehicle should have a fuel system cleaning every 60,000 miles. However, this depends a lot on what type of car it is, and what the manufacturer recommends.
If the vehicle is an early model with a carbureted fuel system there is no need to have the system flushed. Models that were early adopters of fuel injection, in the 1990s and early 2000s, are most likely to need fuel system cleaning. This is because the early designs were prone to deposit buildup. Later model vehicles may not need cleaning at all. However, always refer to the user manual if in doubt.
