Who should you invite to a bridal shower?

Bridal shower invitees should include the bride's closest female friends and family, all of the bridesmaids and other women in the wedding party and the groom's closest female relatives. Anyone invited to the shower should also be on the wedding guest list.

Bridal showers are typically hosted by the maid of honor with the bride's sister and mother helping out. Bridal showers are usually given at the home of the bride.

These parties originated when a woman was going to marry a man that the bride's father didn't approve of and would refuse to provide a dowry. The bride's and groom's friends would throw a bridal shower to help them get a head start on what they needed for their house.
