When should you offer a teacup Shih Tzu for free?

Teacup shih tzus can be offered to new homes free at any age over eight weeks. Puppies prior to this age should stay with their mothers to help ensure healthy development.
Some puppies may need longer than 8 weeks to wean comfortably; some breeders do not give puppies to new homes until 12 weeks of age.
The ASPCA recommends that owners giving dogs away make sure the canine has received all vaccinations and is spayed or neutered before being re-located to a new home. If the puppy is too young, delaying the adoption until these procedures can be done is appropriate.
