When should you get a tetanus shot?
By Forinfos - 07/04/2025 - 0 comments
Most people should receive the tetanus vaccine as children; those who did not should receive a three-dose series of the tetanus vaccine, including an initial dose that guards against tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis) and diphtheria, according to WebMD. The other doses in the series include a dual vaccine that protects against tetanus and diphtheria.
The series is given over a period of time from 7 to 12 months. Once the primary series has been given, a tetanus diphtheria (Td) booster is recommended every 10 years, according to WebMD. Anyone in direct contact with sick people or young infants should always be vaccinated against pertussis.
