Should a TV be mounted over a fireplace?

According to Digital Trends, it is not wise to mount a TV over a fireplace for a number of reasons, such as damaged electronics, neck soreness and poor viewing quality. Although mounting a TV over a fireplace seems like a great use of space, the negatives outweigh the positives.
Electronic devices do not work well with heat, so having a fireplace directly underneath the TV can shorten its lifespan. Also, due to the size of most fireplaces, the TV is likely to be mounted well above eye level. This can cause neck pain from holding an unnatural position for a length of time. Finally, viewing a TV from a lower angle may result in color shifts and ultimately does not produce the best viewing experience.
