How should you wave to someone in Greece?

When traveling in Greece, visitors should wave goodbye with their palm facing toward themselves, as is customary in that country. The gesture of waving with one's palm facing away from themselves and toward the person to whom they are waving can be confusing for some Greek people because this gesture is typically a means of beckoning in that culture.
There's an additional reason not to wave with one's whole hand in Greece. The gesture of showing the palm of one's hand with outspread fingers, especially directed toward someone's face, is considered an offensive insult in that culture.
