How often should you wax your car?

A car should be waxed two to four times a year to protect its paint. Those who choose to wax twice a year should do so just prior to winter and again in the spring.

A coat of wax begins to break down within months of application, particularly if the car is not garaged regularly. It is important to apply a new coat before the existing coat completely breaks down, as not only does automobile wax give cars a shiny appearance, it protects them against scratches and other damage caused by dirt, rain, ultraviolet light and other factors. Wax also guards against oxidation, which is responsible for the dull appearance some cars exhibit.
