How do you sign up for a Google merchant checkout account?

You can no longer sign up for a Google Checkout Merchant account, as Google discontinued its Google Checkout service on Nov. 20, 2013. The company replaced the Google Checkout service with Google Wallet, which allows customers to pay for items they buy in-store or online.

Google partnered with several payment platforms including Braintree, Shopify and Freshbooks to allow existing Google Checkout merchants to migrate to these platforms at discounted prices. Alternatively, existing U.S. Google Checkout merchants could apply and switch to the Google Wallet Instant Buy service, which allows them to integrate Google Wallet with their websites using the Instant Buy application programming interface.
