In international competition, a standard cricket pitch measures 2012 centimeters in length and 305 centimeters in width. Represented in yard equivalents, these measures equate to approximately 22 yards in length and 3.34 yards in width.

In cricket, the pitch is the central playing ground where a bowler at one end of the pitch releases the ball toward the batsman at the other end of the pitch. The batsman attempts to hit the oncoming ball. When a ball is hit, the batsman attempts to reach the opposite end of the pitch in order to score a run while the opposing team attempts to run out the batsman, thus avoiding a scored run.
