What are some sizes for electrical service panels?

Typical sizes for electrical service panels include 100-amp, 150-amp and-200 amp. These panels are sized by the maximum amount of current they can carry without tripping the main breaker. Another factor for consideration is the number of circuit breakers the panel holds.
In older homes that have not been rewired, it is common to find 60-amp service panels, although as of 2016, the National Electrical Code requires a minimum of 100 amps. Panels that provide 100 to 150 amps are adequate for most homes, although 200-amp service is growing in popularity. A 400-amp service is available for very large homes or in installations with a high demand for electrical energy.
