Why do slugs invade the home?

Slugs generally have a great sense of smell and are attracted to human food, pet food and water. They are known for having an amazing ability to squeeze through cracks and small openings, which is due to the fact that they possess no bones and are very flexible.

If a home has any cracks, crevices, openings or leftover drilling holes of any kind, they should be filled in promptly. A polyurethane foam that has expanding properties works best for sealing small problem areas that allow slugs to invade the inside of a home. Finally, it is also important that any pet food or other food be sealed well and not left close to the ground.
